What is medical billing and coding? It is one of the behind-the-scenes functions at most hospitals and medical facilities. Medical billers and coders are responsible for handling health insurance claims, entering the correct codes in patients’ records, managing Electronic Health Records, submitting information to Medicare and Medicaid, collecting patient payments, and making sure that bills are paid on time.
