How to create a skills-based resume if you are new to your field
How do you get your first job in a new career field? It can be tricky to land your first job when it seems like every employer requires three to five years of prior experience. One technique to help your chances is to create a skills-based resume. Skills-based resumes emphasize the job skills you have rather than emphasizing your employment experience. This way, a prospective employer sees right away that you have the skills you need for the job.
If you are having trouble starting your resume, you might want to look at a sample resume. Sample resumes can help you get the ball rolling. Below is an example of a skills-based resume for a recent graduate of a medical billing and coding school.
